SHIMLA: The Centre has decided to include power generated by large hydel projects (HPO) in the non-solar renewable purchase obligation (RPO) of states and UTs, giving a boost to the hydro-power sector in Himachal Pradesh, said chief minister Jai Ram Thakur.

He said the Centre also decided to provide funds for infrastructure, like roads and bridges, near projects.

He said he was thankful to PM Narendra Modi for approving measures to promote the hydro-power sector. "Tariff rationalisation will provide flexibility to developers and will increase project life to 40 years," he said.
