A Model Code of Conduct comes into play soon after EC declares election dates. The Code of Conduct imposes restrictions on political parties including their public meetings.
In his tweet , Sanjay Singh seemed to suggest that a similar thing had occurred in 2014 when Lok Sabha election dates were announced by the Election Commission. Lok Sabha elections are likely to be held in seven to eight phases in April-May The Election Commission is also likely to announce the assembly election dates in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, according to various media reports.
