Day after Mumbai-Pune E-way accident, cops identify fourth victim
The three others who died in the crash were identified on Saturday
mumbai Updated: Mar 11, 2019 02:00 ISTA day after a mishap on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway killed a man and three women, police officers on Sunday ascertained the identity of the fourth victim. She has been identified as Mokhsa Babulal Shah, 33, from Navsari in Gujarat.
The accident took place on Saturday afternoon, when a multi-utility vehicle carrying six passengers crashed into a trailer at Bhor Ghat. The police had identified three of the four deceased – Janki Nandukumar Nanekar, 27, a resident of Ambernath; Rani Gaur, 25, from Madhya Pradesh; and Sushmit Abhijit Mutha, 22, from Ahmednagar.
Three people, including the driver, had sustained injuries and the driver was booked under section 304A (causing death by negligence).
“We were able to trace the identity of the fourth victim as her phone rang when a relative had called to check on her. We inquired with the relative and ascertained her identity,” said Srirang Kisave, assistant police inspector, Khopoli police station. “After the post-mortem, we handed over the body to her family. We are now investigating the charges against the driver.”
