Mumbai: Rudra Football Academy dished a solid fighting display and edged past We Care (Kopana) by a narrow 2-1 margin in a keenly contested Third Division final of the MDFA League at Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Sunday.
We Care started on a promising note and against the run of play took the lead through Arun Pawar’s strike in the 28th minute. Rudra FA however came roaring back and struck an equaliser through Siddharth Kamble just before half-time to go into the break on level terms.
On resumption, the Rudra outfit continued to put pressure on the rival citadel and in the very third minute, they managed to score the second goal through Surendra Shingte to go up 2-1. ,Thereafter, resolute defence by Rudra FA saw them emerge champions of the third division. ,Earlier in the Third place match, Anushakti Nagar SC defeated Charkop FC 5-2.
