Lok Sabha 2019: 90 crore register to vote, 1.5 crore in 18-19 age group

The overall electorate of around 900 million is 84.3 million more than the number of people recognised as voters during the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

90 crore -- or 900 million -- Indians have registered to elect the 17th Lok Sabha, elections for which will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The results of the polls will be announced on May 23.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora at a press conference at New Delhi's Vigyan Bhavan announced the election schedule today.

Of the 90 crore, 1.5 crore - or 15 million -- are new voters in the age group of 18 to 19.
