Manchester United were 13 points off Tottenham Hotspur when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of the club, today they could draw level on points with Spurs if they beat their North London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates.

United would also win seven league away games in a row for the first time since 1993 if they claim victory.

Youngsters Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong have both traveled with the squad which also features the returning Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic.

Elsewhere, Brazilian midfielder Fred has thanked fans for their constant support after his breakthrough performance in the stunning comeback against PSG.

"Man, since I arrived here the fans have always been behind me," Fred told Manchester United.

"Even when I didn't play that well in some games, when I played badly, the fans always supported and believed in me."

Manchester United fans react to Philippe Coutinho 'come-and-get-me plea'

Manchester United are today again being linked with a summer move for Barcelona attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The 26-year-old joined Barca in a massive £142million transfer 14 months ago from Liverpool.

But things haven’t worked out for the playmaker at the Nou Camp and has struggled for regular game time.

The Sunday Mirror now reports he could be heading back to the Premier League, with Manchester United claimed to be interested.

The reports suggest that Coutinho has sounded out some United players about a move that would excite him.

He is reportedly available for around £86m as Barca look to cut their losses on a player who has scored 18 goals in 61 appearances at the Camp Nou.

United fans have now been having their say on the potential summer transfer for the 26-year-old Brazil international. Here’s the best of the reaction.

The record in United's sights this afternoon

Manchester United haven’t won back-to-back away league games against Arsenal since a run of three between 1983-84 and 1985-86. This was also the last time the Reds won three in a row at the Gunners in all competitions.

What United's defeat of PSG has done to Kylian Mbappe

It was the best night of European football since United’s 1999 Champions League final triumph, in my book, and Kylian Mbappé says United’s 3-1 win against PSG on Wednesday, that secured their unlikely passage to the quarter-finals on away goals, has left him unable to sleep.

“We are stunned. There are no words.

“I have not managed to sleep. I think it has been the same for everybody else.

“We had worked hard to arrive at this moment. We are disappointed. We ruined the party.

Solskjaer reflects on Arsenal rivalry of years gone by

This afternoon’s game between Arsenal and Manchester United is set to go a long way to determining the final positions of the Premier League’s top four.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to Sky Sports about some of his favourite Arsenal vs United memories.

“The rivalry was fantastic.

“At that period it felt like if we didn’t win the league, they would.

“I still remember how it hurt when they lifted the trophy, when they celebrated. You can almost say it’s worse than how good it feels when you win it yourselves.

“I think we had loads of respect for each other. We were certainly very humble going into those games, and knew we had to fight for every single inch, because if we stood off them, we knew they were too good for us to handle. We went into the games knowing we had to give absolutely everything every time.”

Dalot: De Gea is the best in the world

Diogo Dalot says it is a pleasure to line up alongside David De Gea at Manchester United, who the Portuguese full-back believes to be the best goalkeeper in the business.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I think he [De Gea] can show to the world that he’s the best goalkeeper in the world.

“To have the opportunity to play with him, it’s amazing and it’s unique for me.”

Dalot delivered stand-out performances against Southampton and Paris Saint-Germain and says he is adapting well to life in Manchester after nine months at Old Trafford.

“It was hard because I got injured.

“It was my first two injuries that I had in my short career so far.

“When you get it in this time, it was hard because I wanted to play and I was coming to a new club, new team-mates, new country.

“But I think it was very good with this staff, with this club, they helped me a lot.

“It’s been a fantastic year for me in terms of experience and game time, because I just started playing 2-3 months ago, gained full fitness.

“To have all the appearances that I have and to make some good games, I think it’s going to be a good season at the end.

Darren Fletcher’s memoir of United’s trip to Highbury in the 2004/05 season was at the height of United’s feud with Arsenal.

Here’s an excerpt of his recollection to manutd.com:

You’re in the tunnel at Highbury.

You’re in the zone, ready for a massive match against Arsenal.

Suddenly, Roy Keane starts having a go at Patrick Vieira, before we’re even on the pitch.

In that one moment, you’re in complete shock. All sorts of things run through your head.

Is it going to kick off again, like at Old Trafford last year?

What’s the ref going to do?

Are they going to come to blows?

You’re on edge, getting ready to rumble or hold somebody back. In that moment you don’t know what’s going to happen. Everything’s on a knife edge.

If you’re going into a fight, without a doubt, you want to be on Roy Keane’s side. Then look at the other lads in the dressing room that night: Wazza, Wes, Rio, Heinze, Scholesy… we’ve got all those lads and more, and Sir Alex Ferguson behind us, so you look around and think to yourself:

Yeah, we’ll be alright.

Solskjaer explains what Man Utd need to to do catch Man City and Liverpool

If the Premier League season had started when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge at Old Trafford on December 19 United would be five points clear at the top.

It’s been an incredible few months for the club under the Norwegian, but while Solskjaer believes “the foundation is here” for a title challenge, he stressed there is plenty of work to be done to build on it.

The Norwegian has been in charge of United for 12 Premier League games, claiming 10 wins and two draws to fire them back into contention for a top four finish, but doing it over a full season is the next challenge.

And Solskjaer has identified the crucial difference between title challengers Manchester City and Liverpool and his side - something he finds unacceptable for United.

“How many games have I been in charge? Ten? Twelve? That’s just part of a season,” he said.

Former Liverpool favourite explains his one 'big surprise' with Solskjaer

Danny Murphy says he has been taken aback by the level of tactical nous that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has displayed since taking the reins at Old Trafford on December 19.

Here’s what he told the Mail:

“I expected Manchester United to improve and play with more freedom once Jose Mourinho had left the building, but I have to be honest and say the level of tactical awareness shown by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and an ability to change things during matches has been a big surprise.

“He’s proven himself very savvy in finding the right balance between bringing back the United tradition of going out to win games but also adapting to the opposition when required, so that it’s not overly cavalier.

“When I use the phrase ‘tactical awareness’, I don’t just mean which formation you set up with though Solskjaer’s United can mix it up from a 4-3-3 to a midfield diamond and split strikers.

“What Solskjaer has done is impose a different philosophy at the club and create an atmosphere where players are usually encouraged to break forward, try things, and not feel they will get a hairdryer if it doesn’t come off.

“The clever part is that a happier bunch of players are then more accepting if you ask them to perform a sacrificial role for the team.”

Man Utd 'face fresh competition for Portuguese starlet Joao Felix'

Manchester United will have to compete with Serie A giants Juventus and several other top European clubs for the signing of Portugal’s hottest prospect Joao Felix, according to reports.

FootballItalia claim that super agent Jorge Mendes was in attendance as the Italian champions beat Udinese 4-1 on Friday night, ‘fuelling reports he was there to discuss €120m-rated Benfica talent Joao Felix.’

As Mendes’ clients at Juve, Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Cancelo, were not involved in the game it’s suggested that ‘his presence was for talks with the club directors’.

Felix has burst onto the scene this season, with the 19-year-old bagging 11 goals and setting up another six in 29 games.

Manchester United squad vs Arsenal revealed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer includes two youth stars

Mason Greenwood has retained his place in the Manchester United squad for Sunday’s game against Arsenal at the Emirates.

The 17-year-old made his United debut against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night, coming on as a late substitute for Ashley Young.

It had been suggested that Greenwood might drop out of the squad this weekend as a result of several first-team players returning to fitness but both he and Tahith Chong travelled to London on Saturday afternoon.

Fred's message to Manchester United fans after breakthrough performance against Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United midfielder Fred has thanked the club’s fans for their constant support despite the Brazilian ‘playing badly in a few games’.

Fred joined United in the summer for £52million from Shaktar Donetsk but had failed to assert himself in the side making just 13 starts this season.

But due to injury constraints Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to deploy Fred in a makeshift midfield against PSG and the Brazilian played brilliantly as he helped United to an unforgettable Champions League victory.

Fred’s performance has been desribed by many, including Solskjaer, as his breakthrough performance in a red shirt and he’s taken the opportunity to thank the fans who backed him during a difficult start to life in England.
