Teen impregnates sister; health check-up in school reveals incident
TNN | Mar 10, 2019, 04:14 ISTMangaluru: A health check-up organised by a local primary health care centre for school students in Vittal has brought to light the pregnancy of a minor girl. What’s more shocking? The girl was impregnated by her own brother, who is also a minor.
Health check-ups at schools are conducted on a regular basis to ensure that students stay in good health. However, a recent health check-up at a school came as a shocker to the village.
Growing suspicious by the behaviour of a female student, a personnel of the primary health care centre, who had arrived to conduct the check-up, suggested to the girl’s teachers that she be subjected to certain tests. Subsequently, tests conducted at the Government Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangaluru confirmed that the girl was four months pregnant.
The school teachers brought the incident to the notice of the local police, who in turn, investigated the issue. The girl is said to have informed the officials that she was a victim of sexual assault by her own brother. The 17-year-old has been detained and sent to a centre under the Juvenile Justice Board.
