An Intermediate student stripped his ‘friend’, raped her and shot a video while physically assaulting her at the abandoned DBR Mills in Lower Tank Bund, the police said. According to Gandhi Nagar police, the incident took place on March 2, but a case was registered only on Friday after the 16-year-old girl and her father approached the police and lodged a complaint.

The girl, who is a first-year diploma student, told the police that she was raped multiple times by the accused, who promised to marry her, the police said.

“When she informed him about her pregnancy, the accused asked her to undergo an abortion, but she refused to do so. On last Saturday too, he raped the girl and later filmed it,” the police said.

Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, the Gandhi Nagar police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against the accused, who was taken into custody later.
