Five held for murder of former student of DAV College

The five accused in police custody on Friday. CHANDIGARH: Police on Friday claimed to have solved the murder case of 24-yearold Vishal Chillar, a former student of DAV College, with the arrest of five persons, including two college students, from near IT Park.
Police said the two main accused who had fired on the victim and others are still at large.
Vineet Kumar, SP (crime), said the five accused are Rahul Manda (23), a resident of Bhiwani and BA third-year student at DAV College, Sector 10, Ramdeep Sheokand (21), Sumit Kumar (23), a BA final-year student at DAV College, Sushil Kumar (20), a student of BA third-year at DAV College and Amandeep Nehra (21) of Hisar and a former student of DAV College Sec-10.
Police said they got secret information that the accused were coming in a Hyundai i20 car bearing registration number HR20-AN-0846 to meet their friend and collect money. Cops laid a naka on the border of IT Park and Panchkula. As the car was coming from Panchkula side towards Chandigarh, police signalled it to stop. When the driver tried to flee by reversing the vehicle, cops stopped the car and caught the all five accused.
Police said the accused during interrogation revealed that both parties had fought during college student elections three year ago. Sudeep, the main accused, was associated with INSO, while Pankaj, one of the injured, with HSA. They had fought several times in the past.
‘Sudeep fired at ex-student of DAV College’
Police said on March 5, Vishal, Pankaj, and a few of their friends had gone to the house of Sumit at New Chandigarh to thrash him and his friends. But Aman Nehra, another accused, leaked the information to Sumit, who fled.
When Vishal and others reached New Chandigarh, they vandalised his car. Later, Sumit reported the matter to Mullanpur police station. When Pankaj and Vishal came to know that the information was passed on to Sumit by Nehra, they thrashed him the same day. Later, Aman reached New Chandigarh and hatched a conspiracy with Sumit, Sudeep and others to kill Vishal and others.
On March 6, they reached Sector 49, with Sudeep and Naveen were carrying pistols around 7 am. Cops said Sudeep and Naveen fired at Vishal. However, the other accused assaulted friends of Vishal. The accused fled in their car to Rishikesh and were apprehended while they were coming back to meet one of their friends, police said.
