Mangaluru: Union home minister Rajnath Singh told a BJP convention in Mangaluru on Saturday that “India has carried out three counter strikes, not two, in the last five years.”
Addressing Shakti Kendra Pramukhs of the BJP, Singh said, “People know about the surgical strike of Uri and the air strike IAF carried out in Balakot. But we have carried out three counter strikes in five years. I can give you details of the two counter-terror operations. However, I can’t disclose details of the third one.”
Singh warned Pakistan it’ll have to pay a heavy price for promoting terrorism by providing shelter to terrorists. “India will not provoke Pakistan, but we will not tolerate provocation from their side,” he said.
On Balakot air strike, the minister said, “We successfully destroyed the terror camp in Pakistan.”
“It was a targeted mission carried out successfully by the IAF with specific intelligence inputs. Our brave soldiers carried out the attack and sent a strong message to Pakistan. The opposition, which is seeking proof, seems to have lost faith in Indian forces. The IAF team had gone there with a mission with specific intelligence inputs. Our MiG-21 destroyed their F-16. It’s a question of our country’s pride,” he said.
He added that by 2028, India will be one of the three powerful countries in the world.
“India has become the fastest-growing nation in the world. In 2014, the economy was in the ninth position among the 10 powerful nations in the world. At present, India is in the sixth place and is heading to the fifth position. The world considers the US, Russia and China the three most powerful nations. Very soon, we’ll become one among the three powerful nations in the world,” Singh said.
Paying tributes to soldiers martyred in the Pulwama attack, especially CRPF jawan H Guru from Mandya, Singh said people of Karnataka have contributed immensely to the nation.
‘Khichdi govt in Karnataka’
Ridiculing the coalition government, Rajnath Singh said, “Karnataka has a khichdi government where the welfare of people is not possible.”
“The JD(S) is busy protecting its chair. The BJP is not politicking to secure power, but to make India strong and a superpower. Some say we’re discriminating in the name of religion. Our policy is nothing but justice for all – Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
Singh said the central government has implemented several schemes for Karnataka, especially for the coastal belt. He also said the demand for a separate railway division for Mangaluru will be considered seriously. “We have taken up several measures to ensure safety and security of coastal Karnataka,” he added.
On Lok Sabha elections, Singh said while victory for BJP in three coastal Lok Sabha constituencies – Dakshina Kannada, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru and Uttara Kannada — is sure, the party aims at bagging all the 28 seats in the state.
