Indore: While felicitating women achievers on International Women Day on Friday, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said it is time society changes mindset and respects women.
“In no area of work, they are behind men,” she said while delivering key note address at the function organised to felicitate women achievers. The programme was organised by Mahanagar Vikas Parishad and Lok Sanskriti Manch. Those who were felicitated include mayor Malini Gaud, airport director Aryama Sanyal and sanitation employees. Besides Mahajan, Lok Sanskriti Manch president Shankar Lalwani and Mahanagar Vikas Parishad president Ashok Daga also felicitated them.
Mahajan said mother, daughter or daughter-in-law symbolise goodness. “If women decide, they can achieve goals. Mayor Malini Gaud has achieved the feat (retaining cleanest city tag for Indore for three years) with strong will power,” she remarked.
Mahajan appreciated efforts of airport director Aryama Sanyal and said she has taken airport’s development to new heights. Cleanliness watchdog Neetu Chauhan was also felicitated.
Speaking on the occasion, mayor Gaud attributed her success to local residents. “I dedicate this achievement to them. We are preparing methane gas from Choithram vegetable mandi waste, which is used in our buses.
Our efforts have not stopped. We will continue to innovate and maintain cleanest city tag for Indore in future,” she added. Airport director Sanyal said residents of Indore are cooperative and gives her full support. Workers of over 50 women’s social organisations felicitated mayor at the function.
