PATNA: A high-level meeting was recently held at the Raj Bhavan to review the preparations being made to conduct the state-level combined entrance test (CET) for admission to the two-year BEd course on March 10.
It was decided that divisional commissioners and district magistrates would ensure free and fair examinations at all the centres. It is expected that they would hold the test in a strict manner by utilizing their full administrative ability and competence. Holding the test in a fair and peaceful manner would be the collective responsibility of the district administration, universities and all the officials concerned.
Principal secretary to the governor, Vivek Kumar Singh, Nalanda Open University vice-chancellor R K Sinha, Patna divisional commissioner and other senior officials of the Raj Bhavan and state government attended the meet.
Speaking on the occasion, principal secretary Vivek Kumar Singh pointed out that the officers from the governor’s secretariat would be deputed as special observers at different centres.
“Divisional commissioners will ensure timely dispatch of test materials at all the centres, deputation of officers, promulgation of prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr PC around examination centres, ban on the use of cellphones and other electronic devices in exam halls and necessary instructions to the invigilators and other officers at the centres in all the districts under their jurisdiction. Jammers will also be installed at all the test centres so that examinees may not be able to use electronic devices inside the examination halls,” Singh said.
Altogether 8,9705 candidates will take the CET at 124 centres spread across the state. A maximum of 51 test centres has been created in Patna where 40,881 candidates will write the test. The number of test centres in different cities will be — Madhepura (4), Saharsa (3), Muzaffarpur (13), Chhapra (9), Darbhanga (18), Purnia (7), Bhagalpur (10) and Ara (9).
The state nodal officer will depute one observer each at all the test centres and the district administration will depute one magistrate at each centre. The entry of any person not connected with the examination has been banned.
The total number of seats in all the 340 training colleges is 34,400. The results of the entrance test will be published on March 20.
