As expected, Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding saw some of the biggest global names in attendance. While Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao were among the first to enter, the guest list featured business magnates and politics alike
When it comes to big, fat Indian weddings, the Ambanis are known for setting the proverbial bar. The ongoing celebrations ahead of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding have been the talk of the town ever since they began last month. As today, March 9, marks the big day, Mumbai’s crème de la crème have assembled at the Jio World Centre in BKC, Mumbai, to attend the childhood sweethearts’ nuptials.

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao were among the first to reach the wedding venue. Other big names from the industry spotted at the event include Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Ayan Mukerji, and musicians Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani.

The guests walked in through entrances covered in Japanese cherry blossom flowers, while the main hall featured flower-clad animal installations and ceiling creepers throughout the space.
Over and above some of Bollywood’s biggest names, the guest list for Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding includes Sachin Tendulkar and wife Anjali Tendulkar, as well as politicians like CM Devendra Fadnavis and wife Amruta, railway minister Piyush Goyal, commerce minister Suresh Prabhu and former commerce minister Anand Sharma, among others. They were also joined by couturiers Sandeep Khosla and Manish Malhotra. Cricketer Hardik Pandya, Shane Bond and Mitchell McClenaghan, and Sri Lankan coach Mahela Jayawardene were also seen at the festivities.

Global industry leaders seen at the wedding include the UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon and wife, former British PM Tony Blair and his wife Cherie Blair, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai and wife Anjali Pichai. Other corporate and global leaders like Samsung vice chairman Jay Y Lee, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran and his wife Lalitha, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey, former US Congressman Eric Cantor and his wife, are also part of the festivities.
The baraat reportedly began from the Trident hotel at 3.30pm and is to be followed by high tea at 6.30pm, before the wedding ceremony commences at 7.30pm.
