PM asks BJP MPs to file online self-appraisals

BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked party’s Members of Parliament to complete self-appraisals about their performance during the last five years and send report soon. The BJP headquarters sent online forms to all party MPs for the purpose.

MPs have been asked to list the good works done by them in their respective constituencies, which party can list in its achievements. Party MPs have also been asked to list the caste break up of their constituencies and the implementation of major centrally funded schemes in their respective LS constituencies.

Another question asked to MPs in their self-appraisal which was particularly important for states like MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh is number of assembly seats won under LS seats. Around eight assembly constituencies make one LS seat.

BJP has lost MP in December assembly polls recently after ruling the state for past 15 years. Lok Sabha wise review of assembly seats would help in finding out party’s prospects in LS polls, as Congress is on power in state now.

BJP leaders said the exercise would help in two ways. First it would help in analysing the popularity of MP and secondly major achievements will be included in the speech of Modi during his tour to the state for the election campaign in coming days.

While some of the party MPs have already sent the report, there are few who are not tech savvy and are unaware about the inputs demanded by the PM.

“There was no deadline for sending the feedback. I have received it a fortnight ago and I have filled and sent it back the same day, said Bhopal MP, Alok Sanjar, adding, that it should not be seen as exercise on the basis of which tickets would be decided for the LS polls in state or other parts of the country.

BJP MP from Sagar LS constituency, Laxminarayan Yadav said he came to know just a day ago that a report has been demanded by the party. “I will send it soon. As far as developmental works in my constituency is concerned, I have published a booklet given to central party leadership.”

Dhar BJP, MP, Savitri Thakur said she answered all the questions and had sent it to the party headquarters. She refused to divulge into the contents of report by saying she did not exactly remember, but general things were asked in the report, she added.

There are 29 LS seats in MP and BJP won 26 of them in 2014 LS polls in the Modi wave. Only three LS seats are with Congress. By making comeback in MP after fifteen years and winning 114 seats in assembly polls, Congress has made inroads in at least 15 LS seats of MP.

BJP knows this and probably this is the reason why it is calling for detailed reports from its MPs ahead of these LS polls.
