Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani on Friday kick-started works worth ₹15.58 crore in various wards in the city.
A release from the Coimbatore Corporation said he participated in a ground-breaking ceremony in the presence of Collector K. Rajamani, and Corporation Deputy Commissioner S. Prasanna Ramasamy to provide underground drainage connection to houses in wards 79, 78, 76 and 86.
Smart Cities fund
The civic body would use ₹ 12.27 crore from the Smart Cities fund to provide the connections to 17,302 houses.
Mr. Velumani also inaugurated a children's park in Pandian Nagar in Ward 77, a child care centre (anganwadi) in North Housing Unit, new classrooms in the school on Church Road in Edayarpalayam in Ward 93.
The Corporation release said that the Minister also participated in the ground-breaking ceremony to start the work to re-lay road in LIC Colony and C.G.V. Nagar at ₹ 69 lakh and in Vedapatti at ₹15 lakh. He also inaugurated a few other works.
