IT Grids owner urges HC to quash FIR issued against his firm in the data breach case

The quash petition filed by IT Grids (India) Pvt. Ltd owner D. Ashok would be opposed by the Telangana police probing the pilferage of sensitive date of 3.7 crore voters in Andhra Pradesh.

This was disclosed by Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief and Inspector General of Police (West zone) Stephen Raveendra here on Saturday.

Mr. Ashok on Friday moved the Telangana High Court seeking a direction to quash the First Information Report (FIR) issued against his firm in the data breach case. The SIT team on Saturday carried out searches on the premises of IT Grids company at Ayyappa Society in Madhapur for collecting more evidence in connection with the case.

“A team of police officers along with scientific and technical experts revisited the office to get additional evidence,” Mr. Stephen said. The seized devices would be produced in the court and also a report obtained from the forensic science laboratory, the officer said.

Earlier in the day, the Hyderabad police transferred the ‘data theft’ case registered against Mr. Ashok’s firm to SIT and the case diary was handed over to Mr. Stephen. On Friday, the office of the SIT was shifted to City Security Wing, Goshamahal Stadium, from Director General of Police office at Lakdikapul. Meanwhile, TRS youth wing leader Dinesh Choudhary lodged a complaint with S.R. Nagar against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for comparing Telangana government with a terrorist outfit.
