JAIPUR: Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday hits out at Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the recent airstrikes carried out by the IAF saying that perhaps the Congress president does not understand the meaning of words.

“Rahul Gandhi had said IAF attacked Pakistan. When did we attack? It was only an operation against terrorism. Maybe he doesn't understand the meaning of words.”

“He also said that in airstrike our people were martyred. No one from our side was martyred, only terrorists got killed there,” he told a news conference

Hours after video of Nirav Modi surfaced, Union minister Prakash Javadekar clarified that Modi government has sent an extradition request to the UK government in a presser held at BJP headquarter on Saturday.

Javadekar said it was only the Narendra Modi government which can bring back fugitives—Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi like the way they brought a middleman in Augusta Westland Chopper scam Christian Mitchel.

The minister held Congress responsible for giving undue favours to all fugitives of the country. “Congress president Rahul Gandhi attended Nirav Modi’s event on September 13, 2013 and the next day Nirav was given loan of Rs 1,550 crore. In another case, even after Mallya had the outstanding loan amount of Rs 1,475 crore, the former PM Manmohan Singh helped Mallya get Rs 1,500 crore loan to help him save his Kingfisher Airlines,” alleged Javadekar.

Replying to a question as to why all defaulters fled during the Modi government? The minister said during the Congress rules these defaulters were roaming freely in the country as they had no fear of law enforcement agencies. “The fled because Modi government has tightened their noose by bringing anti-corruption laws,” said Javadekar, who adds that Modi government will pick them from wherever they are hiding and will present them before the Indian court.

Highlighting the efforts taken by the union government against the fugitives, Javadekar, said, “The government had recovered Rs 5,000 crore against the total of Rs 11,400 crore of the PNB scam from Nirav Modi. The ED had carried out mass operation against the Nirav Modi’s 35 establishments and seized Rs 549 crore. Soon, Mallya will be extradited to India.”

Meanwhile, former BJP spokesperson Sunil Bhargava joined BJP on Saturday.
