Footy great Mark Geyer reveals he has barely eaten or slept since NRL Memes Facebook group falsely claimed his daughter was in a sex tape

  • NRL legend Mark Geyer was irate after false reports about his daughter online
  • Facebook page NRL Memes incorrectly identified Montanna Geyer in a sex tape
  • Mr Geyer is now poised to take legal action in what has been a 'very trying week'

Rugby league legend Mark Geyer admitted he has barely eaten or slept since the NRL Memes Facebook page this week incorrectly claimed his daughter was a participant in a sex tape.

An irate Geyer is pursuing legal action against the Facebook page after it stated Geyer's daughter Montanna was one of the women featured in a video with players from the Penrith Panthers.

It also ran with the accompanying caption: 'The bird in the Tyrone May video is Mark Geyer's daughter. Happy days at Penrith.'

Facebook went on to shut down the controversial page.

Geyer told Wide World of Sports it has been a testing week for all his family.

'I'm used to going through my own dramas, but when it involves your family it's a whole different ball game,' he said.

'As soon as they mentioned my daughter in the wrong way, I think it was my job as a father to right the wrong as any father would.'

Geyer, a local junior, is a club legend at the foot of the mountains, winning a premiership in 1991. He also represented NSW and Australia in a glittering start to his career.

In damage control, Penrith were quick to publicly back 'MG', with club supremo Phil Gould tweeting a message of support to Geyer and his family.

Panthers utility player Tyrone May was then stood down indefinitely under the NRL's newly introduced 'no-fault' policy following his arrest.

He was charged with two counts of recording intimate image without consent and two counts of disseminate image without consent.

'Panthers acknowledges the seriousness of the charges and agrees the decision is in the best interests of the game,' chairman David O'Neill said.

'(Tyrone) May will continue to train with the club and we will work closely with the NRL and the RLPA to ensure his well-being.'

May will front Penrith Local Court on May 1.
