HYDERABAD: A day after two infants died and 32 children hospitalized after they were wrongly given Tramadol tablet instead of a paracetamol, a medical officer, 3 auxiliary nurse midwifes (ANM) and a pharmacist have been terminated from the service with immediate effect by the health, medical, and family welfare department officials.

Over 30 children were hospitalised on Thursday after they developed health complications a day after being administered some vaccine at the urban primary health centre in Nampally on Wednesday.

The director of public health (DPH) and district medical and health officer have been directed to place the health supervisor of the primary health centre under suspension. Instructions have also been given to frame charges against supervisor, SPHOs and DIO. The government has directed DPH to submit a detail report on the deaths by Monday.

To ensure that such incidents do not recur, the managing director of Telangana State Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation was asked to change the size, packaging, and colour of Tramadol tablet by April 8.
