Two on the run after home invasions and assaults in Sydney's south west
Two men have been arrested and another two are still on the run following a spate of home invasions, assaults and carjackings in Sydney’s south west on Saturday morning.
A large-scale police operation is currently underway after four men wearing balaclavas invaded two homes in Fairfield and Bonnyrigg between 7am and 8.45am.
Police have been told two of the men were armed with firearms.
A woman was assaulted and a man assaulted with an iron bar in Fairfield, before the men fled in a white Mercedes. A round was discharged inside the house at Bonnyrigg, but no-one is believed to have been injured.
The Mercedes was then seen driving at speeds up to 200km/h on the M5 at Moorebank before it crashed into another car and caught alight.
The balaclava-clad men fled and later carjacked two vehicles: a Nissan Navara 4WD and yellow Holden Commodore.
Two of the men were arrested in Prestons about 10.40am.
One man was found hiding underneath a building at Prestons Public School and another was on the roof of a house nearby.
The latter, a 28-year-old man, was taken to Liverpool Hospital.
The other two men are still on the run and police have asked anyone who has seen the yellow Holden with registration plates DAN-359 to contact them on 000.
