TNN | Mar 10, 2019, 04:33 ISTHubballi: Veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that more than 12 airstrikes were conducted during the two terms of UPA government, but they were not politicised. Speaking to reporters at Hubballi Airport before attending the party’s rally in Haveri, the Kalaburagi MP said that the Centre is playing over the dead bodies of soldiers.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nothing to talk regarding development. “According to an NSSO report, 38 lakh jobs reduced and 27 lakhs new jobs were created. But they (BJP) assured of giving employment to 10 crore people,” he said.
Screening committee meet tomorrow
The screening committee of the Congress party will meet in New Delhi on Monday to finalise candidates for the general elections, said deputy chief minister G Parameshwara on Saturday.
The decision on Mandya constituency will be taken in a peaceful manner, he told reporters. Irrigation minister D K Shivakumar, who was also present at the news conference, said the party is confident that Sumalatha, wife of actor-politician Ambareesh, will not go against the Congress since there is no chance of her getting the ticket from Mandya.
Revenue minister R V Deshpande said that Sumalatha sought a ticket from Mandya due to her respect towards the Congress.
