Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Rajouri
Sanjay Khajuria | TNN | Mar 9, 2019, 22:35 ISTJAMMU: Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday, targeting forward posts in Rajouri district of Jammu region, a defence spokesperson said, adding there were no injuries reported.
“Around 6pm, Pakistani Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling with mortars and firing of small arms in Sunderbani sector,” Jammu defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said, adding that the Indian troops retaliated “strongly and effectively.”
The shelling from across the border stopped on Wednesday and the lull was broken by latest firing Friday evening when Pakistan violated ceasefire along Shahpur-Kerni sector in Poonch. A Special Police Officer (SPO), Syed Shah, posted at section Gate Guntrian, received injuries during the firing and was admitted to a government hospital in Jammu for treatment.
Earlier four civilians, including three members of a family, were killed and several others injured as Pakistan targeted over 80 villages in over frequent ceasefire violations along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
