Top Gear’s No Hands Drag Race Almost Results In Disaster

Top Gear is known for doing some weird and wacky challenges and continues to do it in its ongoing 26th season. This particular challenge is what the team of Chris Harris, Rory Reid, and Matt LeBlanc call the ‘No Hands’ drag race.

As the name implies, a ‘No Hands’ drag race sees each driver accelerate down a runway without holding on to the steering wheel. In modern-day performance cars with perfect alignments, such a race would be pretty dangerous but Top Gear decided to do it with three classics, namely a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class, and a Bentley Speed R.

As soon as the race starts, things immediately start to go wrong as both the Bentley and Mercedes-Benz start to veer to the left. This causes Reid in his Bentley to clip the rear of LeBlanc’s Rolls-Royce. Meanwhile, the S-Class being driven by Chris Harris tracks violently to the left and quickly goes on to the grass.

Eager to get back on the track, Harris turns to the right but the slippery grass causes him to briefly lose control of the heavy S-Class. He then violently veers back onto the runway and comes within inches of slamming into LeBlanc. As this unfolds, Reid keeps the throttle on his Bentley pinned and ends up continuing along the grass.

Top Gear Season 26 will be the last season to star Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid. In their place will step Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness. Reid will be relegated to hosting Extra Gear. Chris Harris will continue as one of the three main hosts.
