Attention Wagon Lovers, Audi Teases Return Of Avant In America

Audi has denied US customers to buy one of its Avant models for nearly a decade now but it appears that the German carmaker is planning to bring them back.

Currently the only long-roof Audi you can get in the US is the A4 Allroad, which isn’t exactly a normal wagon but a jacked-up version of one.

The company’s official account on Twitter used the summoning circle meme to tease the return of the Avant bodystyle in the US market. Previous reports suggested that Audi was indeed planning to offer the 2020 A6 Avant, as well as the upcoming RS6 model.

If the rumors are true, Audi will go after other luxurious wagon in the market, including the Mercedes E-Class and the Volvo V90, with its A6 Avant which is already on sale in Europe.

Audi USA’s director of product has previously said that the company has seen a lot of enthusiasm for its Avant models, pushing them to actively consider offering both the A6 and RS6 models.

The new A6 Avant will most likely reach the US shores fitted with the company’s 3.0-liter TFSI V6 powertrain, offering 335hp (340PS) and 369lb-ft (500Nm) of torque. Power will be sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The upcoming RS6 Avant on the other hand, which is expected to be revealed later this year, will most likely employ a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with over 600hp.
