AMBALA: Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij on Thursday inaugurated ‘Abhinandan Dwar’ named after Wing Commander (WC) Abhinandan Varthaman at Ambala Cantonment. The gate has been built at a cost of Rs 30 lakh by the Cantonment Board Ambala (CBA) and its construction was completed nearly a month ago, but the finishing and inaugurations were pending.

Varun Kalia, CBA chief executing officer, said, “Name of the gate has been decided with a consensus of the board members during a meeting held in the recent past. The members suggested that the gate should be named after WC Abhinandan so the youths of the area feel motivated and also we have a large presence of Air Force in Ambala Cantonment. This gate is a part of our non-motorised transport corridor that is being developed on the Mall Road of the city.”

As per sources, a lake on 8 acres is also being constructed in Cantonment area at the cost of around Rs 1.5 crore.
