The Modi-led Government at the Centre having failed to keep its poll promises in every single field, the BJP is coming back to the voters deceiving them with sops or “lollipops” and it is time to defeat the AIADMK and the BJP, said General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Sitaram Yechury here on Friday.
Addressing a public meeting organised by the party, Mr. Yechury said that Tamil Nadu today is one of the worst States in terms of total debts incurred by the Government, thus exerting problems on the livelihood of the people. The economy of the State is in ruins, and falling GDP only indicates that the livelihood of more people will be hit in the days to come.
The two disasters that Prime Minister Modi brought in that had destroyed the livelihood of crores of people has been demonetisation and GST.
If the potential of India should be realised by the people, the Modi Government should be defeated and hence, the CPI (M) and all like-minded parties have come together with a principal task to unseat the Government.
Today, farmers commit suicide because of debt burden, as they are unable to repay what they have borrowed for agriculture. On one side, Mr. Modi says there is no money to give loan waiver to farmers, but the ₹3.5 lakh crore loans taken by his “industrialist friends” had been waived off by the Government. Loans to a tune of ₹15 lakh crore borrowed by his friends have reached a point of no return.
All these are people’s money. Those who looted are leaving the country and the government is unable to do anything. “India does not lack resources, but it has a Government that permits looting of resources through corrupt means.”
People are now seeing what is happening in the Rafale case. A newspaper from Tamil Nadu, The Hindu, its former Editor-in-Chief and current Chairman N. Ram has published a complete exposure of how Modi and his Government had been actually looting the country through the Rafale deal.
“Defeating the AIADMK and the BJP is the only way to improve our lives and that of our children,” he said.
Responding to Modi’s claim that he was a chowkidar, reading out comparative statistics, Mr. Yechury said that in all counts, the previous five years of Manmohan Singh Government had recorded the least number of attacks, causalities and number of ceasefire violations compared to Mr. Modi’s tenure.
