Matric exam paper goes viral

Bhubaneswar: The first and last days of the high school certificate (HSC) examination this year were marked by question papers going viral. In between other papers also went viral. The social science question paper went viral on social media on Friday, the last day of the annual examination. On the first day (February 22), MIL (Odia) paper had gone viral.
The Set-B question paper of social science appeared on the social media after the examination started. It was reported from Deogaon area in Balangir district, said sources in the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), which conducts the examination.

Jahan Ara Begum, president of the BSE, said she got to know about the incident at 12noon. “The question paper, which is doing the rounds on social media, is being matched with the original one. We are examining the case,” she added. tnn

Earlier, the board had witnessed circulation of Odia, English and Mathematics question papers on social media after the commencement of the respective examinations.


A total of 19 teachers have been suspended for their alleged involvement in making viral of question papers in social media and loss of 108 OMR sheets after examinations is over. Even 13 persons including teachers were arrested in these cases. We have debarred four students from appearing examinations due to their direct link with the culprits, said Jahan Ara.


She said the board will hold an important meeting on March 12 to discuss regarding major problems faced by the BSE during the examinations. We have cancelled English examinations in three centres in the state due to viral of question papers. We found that 108 OMR sheets of Mathematics paper went missing in a school in Malkangiri district. We will take next course of action in this regard in the meeting, she added.


The BSE president said 137 students have been booked on charges of mal practice on the last day of the examination. Evaluation of answer papers will be held between March 25 and April 5, she added.
