Delhi Cops lay trap for Facebook stalker, arrest him during ‘date’

NEW DELHI: Fed up over being stalked and harassed by a 23-year-old man on Facebook, a woman decided to teach him a lesson. She agreed to his offers for a date and informed the police about it. Cops posing as visitors at a coffee shop laid a trap for the youth and arrested him. The youth, a final year engineering student from a college in Meerut, has been stalking the woman for some time and sent her lewd messages after being rejected.
Police officers say that the woman who works at a private company in south Delhi had added the man Vardaan Kaushik on Facebook, after he claimed to be interested in her work profile and needed some advice.

However, soon he started sending lewd videos and pictures on the personal messenger on the social media platform. He had also taken her phone number from ther profile and called her a few times. When the woman threatened to register a police complaint against him, he started abusing her as well. Lately, he had been threatening to put morphed photographs of her on social media.


The woman approached the R K Puram police station last Saturday and cops laid a trap at a coffee shop. When the man arrived and called the woman on her mobile phone, the police nabbed him.


During interrogation, he admitted to have sent the messages to the woman.


Police have seized his mobile phone and laptop to find out whether he has been stalking other women as well. A case of stalking and outraging the modesty of a woman has been registered against the man. His family members too have been contacted and informed about the incident.
