Soon, luggage at city rly station to go through scanner
RAHUL TAWAR | TNN | Mar 8, 2019, 07:28 ISTLudhiana: In a major step to ensure safety of rail commuters travelling from city railway station, railway security forces will soon install a luggage scanner at the entrance of Ludhiana railway station to check the belongings of passengers travelling from city railway station. The scanner is likely to come into use by the end of this week.
“Following threats of terrorist attacks by anti-national elements a few month back, a demand letter had been sent to higher authorities of railway security forces to provide much needed safety equipment of luggage scanner to one of biggest railway stations of northern railway. Soon we will put the scanner to use, said an official from railway protection force.
Ludhiana railway station director, Abhinav Singla, said issue of installation of a luggage scanner at the entrance of city station is under the consideration by railway security forces. He added that they have been making every possible effort to ensure the safety of passengers.
