Guntur: Railway authorities celebrate Women's Day on grand note

GUNTUR: Railway authorities in Guntur division celebrated International Women’s Day on a grand note on Friday.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) VG Bhooma celebrated the Day with the women staffers of New Guntur Railway Station (NGNT) which has been designated as all women employees station. DRM has interacted with the women employees here and felicitated them.
Subsequently, competitions were held for women staffers in games and sports at the divisional office. The prizes were distributed to the players who emerged victorious in shuttle, musical chairs and basketball.
She congratulated the women employees for their contribution to the success of Guntur division. She said that women were real champions as they were leading from the front. She said that working women deserve special appreciation because they were handling their jobs without any special cushion even while handling their family chores. She asked the employees to encourage the girl children to pursue higher studies so that they would bring more laurels to the family as well as the nation.
There was an announcement at the railway station wishing all the women passengers on women’s day.
Special boarding facilities were arranged to women passengers at terminal stations like Repalle and Macherla with the help of ticket checking and RPF personnel.
Separate coaches were earmarked for the women passengers in Guntur-Repalle passenger. Interestingly, railway authorities have opened exclusive booking counters Guntur, Narasaraopet, Vinukonda, Donakonda, Markapuram, Cumbum, Giddalur, Nandyal, Sattenapalle, Piduguralla, Macherla, Miryalaguda, Nalgonda, Repalle and Nadikude stations. Health checkups have been conducted at Nadikude and Donakonda stations.
