Actor Sumalatha, wife of actor-turned-politician late M.H. Ambareesh, who is keen on contesting the general elections as an Independent, if denied a Congress ticket, on Thursday said she has hopes of noted Kannada film actors electioneering for her.

“Darshan and Yash are like my sons. I can expect more than my son [Abhishek] from them. And, more actors from the Kannada film industry are expected to campaign for me in Mandya,” she told reporters at Malavalli on Thursday.

She continued her roadshows in the district on Thursday, accompanied by some of her supporters. She become emotional while addressing a gathering at Malavalli. Ms. Sumalatha described herself as “the daughter of this soil and the daughter-in-law of Mandya.”
