Two Tangedco officers arrested for taking bribe from building contractor in Trichy

TRICHY: Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) caught two Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) officers red-handed here on Friday while they were taking bribe from a building contractor.
A DVAC team led by deputy superintendent of police Manikandan arrested assistant executive engineer Balachandar, 40, and commercial inspector Veera Saravana Perumal, 46. They were caught while accepting Rs 20,000 as bribe from building contractor Kumar, 50, of Thiruverumbur in their office at Ariyamangalam here.
The duo demanded bribe from Kumar for clearing the files to erect an electric pole to provide power connection to a newly constructed house at Poolangudi here.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, he lodged a complaint with the DVAC, Trichy, on Thursday following which the team laid a trap and caught the two officers.
