The Samajwadi Party released its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections on Friday and three from the first family of the party have found place in the six-member list. The SP’s list comes a day after the Congress released its candidates for 11 seats in the State.
Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav will contest from Mainpuri, the seat he vacated after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls as he contested from two seats — Azamgarh and Mainpuri. His grand nephew Taj Pratap Singh Yadav is the sitting member from the seat.
Mulayam’s nephew Dharmendra Yadav will contest from Badaun, his present constituency. SP general secretary Ram Gopal yadav’s son Akshay Yadav will contest again from Firozabad. Kamlesh Katheria is the candidate from Etawah, the SP stronghold. Bhailal Kol will contest from Robertsganj and Shabbir Valmiki is the candidate from Bahraich.
In Badaun, the Congress has fielded former MP Saleem Iqbal Shervani against Dharmendra Yadav. In Dhurahra, the seat that belongs to the BSP as per the alliance pact, the Congress has decided to field former minister Jitn Prasad. In Unnao, Annu Tandan will fight against the SP.
