Woman stabbed to death by son
TNN | Mar 8, 2019, 07:28 ISTLudhiana: A 45-year-old widow, Usha Sharma, has allegedly been stabbed to death by her son Neeraj in New Vishnu Puri of Daresi on Thursday evening. The woman first had a fight with her son, who later stabbed her to death. According to preliminary inquiry, the police have identified the woman to be a drug addict, and her son suspected she was having relationships with other men, following which he killed her.
Usha belonged to Kaithal in Haryana, but after the death of her husband 12 years ago, she moved to Ludhiana. The woman had three children from this marriage, but two of her children lived with other relatives, while Neeraj was living with her in Ludhiana. After stabbing his mother, Neeraj did not escape. When police reached the spot, they took him into custody.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-1) Gurpreet Singh Sikand said: “As per preliminary inquiry, it has been identified that the woman was addicted to alcohol and drugs. She would force her son, who was a labourer, to give her money for her addictions, which was the reason for their strained relations. Moreover, the son also suspected her of having illicit relations, as some men used to visit their house. On Thursday too, the woman allegedly asked him to get her some liquor and drugs, due to which they indulged in a fight.
“The woman was standing on the stairs when Neeraj pulled her down. The woman fell down and sustained a head injury. In anger, Neeraj got a kitchen knife and stabbed his mother. He attacked her several times around her neck, and the woman died on the spot,” added ADCP Sikand.
The official said the woman’s relatives were contacted in Kaithal, who are on their way to Ludhiana. The police will register a case based on their statement.
