Toyota’s Corolla Comparison Tool Lets You Pit It Against Ferraris, Bentleys And Lambos

We recently took a spin in the 2020 Toyota Corolla and came away pretty impressed with its combination of comfort and technology.

While the model has a lot in common with the 2019 Corolla Hatchback, a redditor recently discovered an interesting quirk in Toyota’s comparison tool. While the site automatically suggests the hatchback be compared with the Hyundai Elantra GT and Honda Accord, users aren’t limited to selecting traditional competitors.

As a result, you can compare the Corolla Hatchback SE against ultra luxury models such as the Bentley Mulsanne and Rolls-Royce Phantom. This isn’t exactly a fair fight, but the Toyota does claim some victories including the lowest delivery fee of $930 and the lowest MRSP of $19,990 (more than 22x times lower than the Phantom).

The tool also says the Corolla bests the ultra luxury rivals as it has a lane departure warning system, an “engine mapping driver mode” and a fuel economy rating of 28 mpg city / 37 mpg highway / 31 mpg combined. Of course, the hatchback is down on power as its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine develops 168 hp (125 kW / 170 PS) and 155 lb-ft (210 Nm) of torque.

Speaking of power, the Corolla Hatchback SE has 632 hp (471 kW / 641 PS) less than the Ferrari 812 Superfast and 562 hp (419 kW / 570 PS) less than the Lamborghini Aventador S Coupe. Those are some pretty sizable differences, but the Corolla does offer five-person seating, side curtain airbags and adaptive cruise control. Other wins for the hatch include automatic high beam headlights, side mirrors with integrated turn signals and available satellite radio.

So what’s the lesson in all of this? Buy the Corolla Hatchback SE, it has mirrors with integrated turn signals.
