Big Booty Porsche 928 Koenig Widebody Is Oh-So-80’s!

A head-turner 1988 Porsche 928 tweaked by German tuning company Koenig will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s in April.

Those familiar with the European tuning scene will likely be familiar with Koenig. Despite the name, it shares no affiliation with Sweden’s Koenigsegg and instead thrived throughout the 1980s and 1990s when it modified some of the world’s premier sports cars and supercars of the time.

The tuner was founded by Willy King in 1974 due to his dissatisfaction with the performance of his Ferrari 365 GT4 BB. The company quickly established itself as a leader in the tuning world and worked its magic on this particular Porsche 928.

The Porsche 928 has never been a beautiful car but this one might just be

According to the auction house, this Middle Eastern-spec 928 was outfitted with a Koenig widebody kit soon after being delivered. Unlike many popular widebody kits from tuners currently offered, the Koenig kit doesn’t include cheap-looking bolt-on fenders and for the most part, looks almost stock. Viewed from the rear, the flared arches make for one sexy gluteus maximus.

In addition to the Koenig kit, this 1988 Porsche 928 sits on a set of wide BBS wheels. The car recently underwent a comprehensive restoration at a cost of over €14,000 ($15,825) that included a full respray in the original shade of black and the fitment of a new windshield.

The mileage of the classic sports car currently sits at 17,118 km (10,636 miles) and was ordered with the available automatic transmission from the factory. It also includes an original Pioneer radio and an in-car telephone.

Pre-auction estimates suggest the car will sell for between €50,000 and €60,000 ($56,519 – $67,823).
