Taxi driver saves passenger from slipping under moving train at Agra station

AGRA: Prompt action by taxi driver saved a life of a passenger from coming under the wheels of an express train at Agra Cantt railway station on Thursday. A video of the incident was widely shared on social media.
The incident took place on platform number one at around 12.10pm when a 34-year-old man attempted to board the running Ernakulam-bound Mangala Lakshadweep Express.
The victim was identified as Suresh who was heading to Morena but was found dragging near entrance footrest of the S6 coach of the express train. He was saved by taxi driver Rajesh Sharma, who was buying a bottle of water at the railway station.
According to an eyewitness, Sharma’s prompt action saved Suresh life.
The 46-year-old brave driver said, "It happened all of a sudden. I was about to go for lunch and went to the platform to buy a water bottle. Suddenly I saw a man dragging along the train, he was holding the iron bar of the entrance. I quickly ran towards him and boarded the coach of running train in order to hold the victim’s arm, ensuring that he does not fell under-wheels no matter what happens."
"I was promptly supported by another man who came running toward the victim and pulled him away from the moving train. Within a few seconds, someone inside the train pulled the alarm chain to stop express. I’m happy that my alertness saved a human life," said Rajesh, who has been ferrying tourists from Agra Cantt station for more than a decade.
Rescued from the mouth of death, the victim Suresh who suffered minor bruises was given first aid at the platform and he later boarded another train for Morena. "I’m thankful for the taxi driver who saved my life. Won’t repeat such mistake ever of boarding a running train," he said before living for Morena.
