NEW DELHI: A probe has been launched after a police complaint by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding YouTube videos claiming that the ongoing Board exam papers have been leaked. The videos, which have been widely shared on various social media platforms, have caused panic among students appearing for the Class X and XII examinations.

DCP (east) Jasmeet Singh said that CBSE lodged the complaint at Madhu Vihar police station and the matter is being probed to take necessary legal action.

A video accessed by shows a girl claiming to have returned after giving an examination displaying several photos on her mobile phone of handwritten questions. In the voiceover, the girl claims that this paper was sent to her before she sat for the examination. She shows the time of receiving the so-called leaked paper as 8.30am. Question papers are usually distributed to students appearing for the exams at 10am.

The YouTube links claim to have access to subjects such as accountancy, chemistry and geography for Class XII. The accountancy paper was held on Wednesday. For Class X, the subjects are mathematics and science. The mathematics exam is scheduled for Thursday.

"CBSE has requested Delhi Police to take suitable and strict action against miscreants under provisions of IPC and IT Act so that the sanctity of examinations and several security initiatives taken by the Board to conduct fair and smooth examinations are not adversely affected," said a senior CBSE official. The Board has also issued a public advisory asking parents and students to beware of the fake news in circulation.

The investigating teams are tracing the IP addresses of the uploader of the videos. Last year, Crime Branch had busted a major racket of leaking Board exam papers. However, CBSE has denied any leaks this time and classified the claims on these videos as false.
