It’s a tug of war between the Andhra Pradesh and the Telangana police in several cases and war of words was witnessed on many occasions.
In October last, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders alleged that the AP Intelligence police were trying to influence the voters by distributing money and blamed the TDP for the conspiracy. They lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer then.
The AP police denied the allegations saying they had camped in Hyderabad to monitor the anti-Naxal operations.
Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was injured in an attack by a restaurant worker at the Visakhapatnam Airport a few months ago, said he had no confidence in the AP police and left for Hyderabad, without lodging any complaint.
Later, he met the Telangana police and gave his statement to the Hyderabad police.
In the recent Chigurupati Jayaram’s kidnap and murder case, the Krishna district police registered a case as the victim’s body was found near Nandigama and arrested Rakesh Reddy and his driver Srinivas.
Jayaram’s wife said the investigation by the AP police was not fair and lodged a fresh complaint with the Jubilee Hills police, who probed the case and arrested a few more persons.
In the latest data theft case, it was again a face off after the Madhapur police registered a case against M/s. IT Grids India Private Limited and conducted raids on its office.
The Guntur police team, which went to Hyderabad to trace missing IT employee R. Bhaskar, reportedly visited complainant Thummala Lokeswar Reddy’s house at Kukatpally and tried to threaten him. However, the local police rushed to the spot and prevented the efforts of the AP police in taking Mr. Reddy into custody.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said the AP police were trying to bring pressure on the complainant and were threatening his family members by trespassing into their house.
They even visited the Madhapur police station and behaved in a high-handed manner, Mr. Sajjanar said.
However, Guntur (Urban) SP Ch. Vijaya Rao said the police team headed by a DSP had gone to Hyderabad as part of an investigation in a ‘man missing’ case.
