Haryana jumps to rank 9 in Swach Sarvekshan

CHANDIGARH: Haryana cities have shown a significant improvement in the Swach Bharat rating and consequently Haryana has up by a rank to 9th position from last year’s tenth. jumped to 9 place from 10th last year.With Karnal jumping to rank 24 and Rohtak jumping to 69 and Panchkula to 71.

Union minister for Urban renewal and housing Hardeep Singh Puri has rewarded the officers of Urban Local Bodies Department for the improvement in the status of their cities.


Urban Local Bodies minister Kavita Jain attributed the elevation of cities to small rank to participation of locals as well as the functioning of civic bodies and the class IV employees involved in the cleanliness drives. “Any such campaign can be successful with the support of masses. For the first time we had included more civic bodies, including the muncipal committees. Haryana has already been rewarded for the cleanilisness in the rural areas,’’ she said.
