Woman and children threatened by man with knife and sword in Brisbane

A woman with two children was threatened by a knife- and sword-wiedling man before her car was stolen in Brisbane earlier this week.

Police said a 24-year-old man held up the weapons towards the woman standing beside the parked car with the children inside on Sambar Close at Chermside West.

The man then demanded the car keys about 4.30pm on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old woman removed the children from the car before the man fled in the white 2008 Ford Focus hatchback with Queensland registration 775 YNH, which remains outstanding.

Detectives have released the image of the man who they believe can assist them with their inquiries into a series of recent incidents in Brisbane and Logan.

Two officers were allegedly threatened with a knife when confronting a man for stealing items from a store in a Loganholme shopping centre about 12.30pm on Tuesday.

The man fled the scene in an orange station wagon, which was then driven to the Chermside West location.

The same man allegedly approached an elderly couple at a Prospect street residence at Sherwood and produced a knife before demanding money on March 4.

The couple refused and the man fled in a waiting vehicle, believed to be the orange station wagon that was stolen from Hillcrest two days earlier.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate the man who has been witnessed driving dangerously at high speed and may pose a danger to the public.

Police urge anyone with information regarding the man’s whereabouts not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero immediately.
