NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading on a mixed note in Thursday's afternoon session.

Shares of GTL Infrastructure (up 4.65 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 3.26 per cent), Vodafone Idea (up 3.21 per cent) and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 2.64 per cent) were the top performance in the index.

Tejas Networks (down 5.21 per cent), ITI (down 1.66 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 1.48 per cent) and GTPL Hathway (down 1.24 per cent) were trading lower.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.59 per cent up at 1003.18 around 02:51 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 19.80 points at 11,072.80 while the BSE Sensex was up 126.2 points at 36762.30.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, PNB, Reliance Communications, DHFL, ONGC, JP Associates, IDFC First Bank, IDBI Bank, SBI, NHPC, GMR Infra, Reliance Capital, Ashok Leyland and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
