Sleeping in a college room that was fumigated for pest control a couple of days before proved deadly for two college canteen staffers. Identified as Ajay Beldar (20) and Ananta Khedkar (20), the duo was found dead on Wednesday in the room at the Dhankawadi-based college campus.

Inspector Vishnu Pawar, in-charge of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station said, "The two were working in the college canteen and the contractor had provided them the room at the campus. On Wednesday, when they did not turn up for work, the canteen manager went to their room. After continuous knocking, when he elicited no response, he broke the glass window at the rear side of the room and entered to find them lying dead."

They were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. Upon investigation, the police found that the room was fumigated for pest control two days ago. "After the pest control on Sunday, they were at a friend's home and returned on Tuesday, thinking that the house might be safe now," Pawar said.
