CBSE Commerce students shocked at botched question paper

LUDHIANA: In the ongoing class 12 board exams, on Wednesday commerce students were shocked after checking the question paper, as there was a mix-up of questions and marks.
Accountancy teacher in Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School, Rajesh Kumar Khanna, said it was really brutal for the students, as the CBSE said earlier that there would be no mistakes this time, but still they are not able to look after it and mistakes are there, which affects students very badly and reflects on their marks as well, bringing down their overall percentage. I think the CBSE should at least give grace marks for the question which was of six marks.
“A question on non-profit organisations was given wrongly in all the sets on the question paper, as the balance sheet was not matching — either the date was wrong, or assets and liability did not match. There was also a question of share capital in which some parts were misprinted, and it was of eight marks. Because of these mistakes, I left out a question of 10 marks, and even other students faced the same problem,” said Shreya Kalia, a commerce student of Drishti School.
Gursimrat Singh Grewal, a commerce student of the same school said: “CBSE has messed up this paper very badly. Because of their fault, I lost 10 marks. Even the exam was lengthy. I want grace marks to be given to each and every commerce student. The authorities should take care, as it creates a lot of problem for students in the end.”
“My experience with the accountancy exam was not too good. There was a mistake in one of the questions of the non-profit organisation chapter. Moreover, there was a mistake in the date of the asset account. Besides this, the entry of cash-in-hand, and cash-at-bank was wrong. This question was of six marks, which mean a lot for a student. So, CBSE should provide compensation marks to all students. Furthermore, I came to know about the news of leakage of paper, so authorities must maintain a strict security system. As taking the exam again is not a solution every year,” said Jhanvi Garg from BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar.
