Tiwari slams Kejriwal citing NGO report

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had promised to make the Capital the number one city in the world but could only manage to make it number one in terms of pollution, the BJP said on Wednesday.

Citing a report by NGO Greenpeace, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari argued that while the BJP-led Centre was “continuously trying to solve the pollution problem”, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal “never showed seriousness in controlling pollution” even though it was “independently competent” to do so.

“Pollution is killing the people of Delhi. The air has become toxic but the CM is not concerned. The Kejriwal-led government collected crores of rupees by levying green cess on commercial vehicles entering Delhi but did not utilise this money to control pollution... The people want to know what has Mr. Kejriwal done with the money collected,” Mr. Tiwari said.

Misled people

“The CM had also talked about installing air purifiers and regular sprinkling of water to control pollution. He misled the people of Delhi in the name of installing air purifiers. Not a single air purifier has been installed in Delhi,” Mr. Tiwari claimed.

“By delaying the approval of Metro Phase-IV, Mr. Kejriwal placed hindrances in the efforts of the Centre to prevent pollution in rural areas,” he added.
