Memorandum submitted to Eastern discom CMD

There is no power supply to seven villages in Darakonda panchayat under G.K. Veedhi mandal in the Agency area, even 70 years after the Independence, CPI (M) district committee secretary K. Lokanadham said here on Wednesday.

“The villagers of Chilaka Veedhi, Nallamuka, Gajupakalu, Durgam, Kakilagedda, Yenugondhi and Royyalagedda have been living in darkness and fear to go out during the nights. They depend on kerosene lamps,” Mr. Lokanadham said in a memorandum submitted to APEPDCL Chairman and Managing Director K. Raja Bapaiah.

‘Solar panel defunct’

He said that electricity was provided partially to three villages, after widespread agitations in the past. “The solar power panels set up there have not been functioning since the last six years and the solar power companies are not taking any action,” he pointed out.

Mr. Lokanadham said that it was unfortunate that A. Darakonda panchyat had no electricity supply though it was located only 35 km away from the Sileru power project.

He appealed to the eastern discom CMD to initiate measures for supply of electricity on a permanent basis to the villages.
