Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has asked the Election Commission to take action against YSR Congress Party president Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy for using Form-7 for the deletion of voters names from the electoral list.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the Minister said Mr. Jagan publicly admitted at a meeting in Nellore on Tuesday to making his party workers file complaints using Form-7 for the removal of names from the list.

The Election Commission should file cases against Mr. Jagan for conducting election-related offences, the Minister said.

The Minister alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao got elected by deleting 24 lakh votes in his State. A similar feat was being attempted in Andhra Pradesh to get Mr. Jagan elected here, he alleged.

Instead of playing a constructive role as Leader of the Oppositions, Mr Jagan was resorting to foul play. The ruling Telugu Desam was on the other hand forging ahead in development, he said.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its annual report put Andhra Pradesh in first place for Horticulture and second place for paddy production. The State was able to make these achievements despite a deficit rainfall of 32%. The State substantially increased its meat, milk and vegetable production, he claimed.

Rayalaseema was turned into a horticulture hub despite 48% rainfall deficit by managing the water available, Mr Umamaheswara Rao said.
