DBS Bank in expansion mode

DBS Bank India Limited is building scale through the “phygital” (digital-cum-physical presence) model to serve large corporates, small/medium enterprises and individuals, said its Chief Executive Officer Surojit Shome.

Shome was here at the launch of DBS’ first branch. With this, the bank has four branches in Tamil Nadu, in Chennai, Salem, Cuddalore and Coimbatore.

The bank plans to “establish presence across nine new cities by end March,” he added.

“We have acquired over 2.5 million customers the last two years since the launch of DigiBank,” Shome said and added that in five years the bank hoped to triple its business; which by end March is expected to hit ₹55,000 crore, with a loan book of ₹20,000 crore.
