Ponnam Prabhakar hits out at KTR for comments

Telangana Congress working president Ponnam Prabhakar has questioned TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao as to what difference did the 16 TRS MPs (including those who defected from other parties and its friendly MIM MP) make in Parliament for Telangana for the last five years that they are now seeking similar number in the ensuing Parliament elections.

At a press conference here, he said the TRS MPs utterly failed to achieve the implementation of projects guaranteed under the A.P. Reorganisation Act and all that they did was to support the BJP on crucial issues putting the State interests at stake. Now do they want 16 MPs again to support the BJP, he asked.

Mr. Prabhakar, who was responding to Mr. Rama Rao’s criticism of the Congress at the recent meeting in Karimnagar, reminded him that his father K. Chandrashekar Rao won the Karimnagar Parliament seat in 2004 elections with the support of the Congress. He also objected to the allegations levelled against him by Mr. Rama Rao and said the TRS working president should control his outbursts. “He appears to be feeling that he is a prince and not an elected leader,” he charged.

Mr. Prabhakar also levelled serious allegations against the TRS stating that it was enjoying the fruits of the sacrifices made by the martyrs and students. He also questioned TRS party’s open friendship with YSRCP president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who strongly objected to separate Telangana. “How do you justify your friendship with a person who hated the very formation of Telangana,” he asked. “While we fought for Telangana and opposed even our party Chief Minister N. Kirankumar Reddy during the agitation, Mr. Rama Rao got his work done by the same Chief Minister even as we agitated,” he alleged.
