AHMEDABAD: A 32-year-old Pakistani national was nabbed from border pillar no. 1050 located near Bhuj on the India-Pakistan border on Tuesday night by the Border Security Force (BSF). Top sources from the BSF said the man had identified himself as one Manhar Khan, resident of Umerkot in Pakistan. BSF sources said that following the Pulwama terror attack on a CRPF convoy and air strikes carried out by IAF at terror outfit Jaish-e- Mohammed’s training camp at Balakot in Pakistan, they had intensified border patrolling both on land and sea border. On Tuesday, during patrolling they found a bearded man wearing a green Pathani dress at the fence

. “The man was found within 50 meter distance from the border fencing which is considered Indian soil. Hence, we took him into custody immediately,” said a BSF official. BSF sources said that a bundle of bidi and a matchbox was found in his pocket. “He is in perfect mental condition and appears to be a tough nut to crack. He does not volunteer information and remains tight-lipped. He keeps repeating that he had strayed into the Indian side of the border. However, we are jointly interrogating him with other intelligence and security agencies to verify his claims,” a BSF official said.

Last year in November, a Pakistani national in similar condition was nabbed from the border near Patan. “He too had come near the fence and was shouting that he wants to come to India,” said a BSF official.

IGP, border range, D B Vaghela said, “He has not been handed over to us. Once he is handed over to the police we will also interrogate him and verify his intentions behind trying to infiltrate into India.”
